Steve built me a Vanguard rocket to launch with the Ventura Rocketeers for Saturday, and, of course, I had to make it really mine, so I went all impressionistic and call it the Vanguard Monet. It flew beautifully Saturday morning. The weather was clear and they had cut down all the weeds on the farm so we had an easy time retrieving the rockets.
Tuesday it was pyrography for me at the studio and I went for some fun and burnt something for the kitchen: Le Chef
With the inks this week, I painted a Bee. I am now doing a series of insects. Bees are so very important to us. In the heat of summer, set up a bee pond with safeguards like rocks, so that the bees don’t drown
.At the end of the week it was experiment time with the wax. I wanted to try a transfer. I read that toner was better than inkjet ink for this, but I have an inkjet printer. I gave it a try. It worked really well. I wanted to paint something antiquish, so I went with some bronze mica powder infused in the wax before I put down my birdcage. I then enhanced the transfer with black encaustic paint.
I was really happy with the finished piece. I am learning that encaustic art takes a lot of patience and is one of the messier mediums. Onto something larger next week. A trip to Micheals brought back to the Studio the mica powder and some 8x8 cradled wood canvas

Rocket art! Looks and flew great
