Tuesday we had the honor of watching a documentary by Jill Bernshouse called A Rambling Rose. The film is about a project lead by Artist Marcos Lutyens and initiated in August 2020 with Dr. Tilly Hinton. The documentary is currently in the film fest circuit and will be available later on the Rose River Memorial website.
In this project, handmade roses are made and attached to nets to represent those who have died from Covid. To learn more about this project and the installations please visit their website: Rose River Memorial . After the festival, Jill was off to Maui to help with relief efforts there and document the events that took place with the horrendous fire.
My art this week is an encaustic piece named “Tribute to the Rose River”
Sunday through Tuesday evening was spent at the Simi Film Fest. It helped to stay busy. Our neighbor Georjean took care of Nova.
Monday we met some incredible people. it was awesome watching our films with friends on the big screen. Following the showing, Steve and Alan Rodrick Jones ( who was the set designer on Star Wars) spoke on the Panel with Joe Metcalfe, the director of the film fest. After the panel, they had a one-on-one with audience attendees in the lobby and a long time friend of Steve, Stan Giecsea attended. Steve and Stan hadn’t seen each other in years.
It was on Tuesday that we got to see “Rambling Rose” and some other very good films. That night we supported Simi Film Fest by attending the awards. We were honored to be nominated. Katie and Joe were great. The link to our films are on our website, SNG Studio Ventura.
We spent Wednesday getting back to our routine. Here are a few photos taken at the event.
🍂Have a Happy Autumn.
